How to make a Bacon Egg Cheese Burger

- Combine in a large bowl, the ground beef, panko crumbs, egg, mustard, and ketchup. Use you hand to mix well until smooth.

- Shape four equal patties, making an indentation in the centre, resulting in a flatter, more even cooked patty.

- Cook the burger patties on the BBQ or in a frying pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, making sure that the internal temperature reached a minimum of 160F. Set the cooked patties aside.

- Cook the eggs on the flat top grill or in a frying pan, on low-medium heat. Cover the eggs with a lid to trap steam and help cook the whites evenly. Cook slowly for 2–3 minutes, until the whites are fully set but the yolk remains runny.
5. Assemble the Bacon Egg Cheese Burger by starting with the bottom of the hamburger bun. Spread on some mayonnaise, then place some lettuce, tomato slices on top and top with a burger patty. Top it with a cheese slice, onion slices, bacon, and a cooked egg. Place the top part of the bun on top and enjoy!
Substitutions and Variations
Protein Substitutions
- Swap beef patties with turkey, chicken, or plant-based patties for a lighter or vegetarian option.
- Use Canadian bacon, prosciutto, or sausage instead of regular bacon for different flavors.
Egg Variations
- Try scrambled or over-easy eggs instead of sunny side up for a different texture.
- Use egg whites only for a lower-fat version.
Cheese Alternatives
- Swap cheddar with American, Swiss, pepper jack, gouda, or brie for a flavor twist.
- Use a dairy-free cheese to make it lactose-free or vegan-friendly (paired with a plant-based patty and egg substitute).
Bread Options
- Replace the bun with a bagel, English muffin, croissant, or lettuce wrap.
- Try whole grain, brioche, or gluten-free buns depending on dietary needs.
Add-Ons and Extras
- Add avocado, caramelized onions, or sautéed mushrooms for more richness.
- Include a spicy element like jalapeños or hot sauce.
- Spread sauces like garlic aioli, chipotle mayo, or ketchup-mustard mix for extra flavor.
Mix and match to suit your taste, dietary needs, or what you’ve got on hand!
Storage
Cool the cooked burger patty at room temperature for up to an hour. Transfer it to an airtight container or wrap it tightly in foil or plastic wrap. Refrigerate the patty for 2-3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat or in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. Freeze the patty by placing it in a freezer-safe bag or container, separating layers with parchment paper. Store frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating for best results.
