Jump to Recipe Jump to Video Print Recipe

Start your day with Blueberry Flax Granola for a wholesome, crunchy boost. Pack this recipe with hearty oats, nutty flaxseeds, and a touch of natural sweetness. Add chewy dried blueberries for a fruity pop in every bite. Enjoy with yogurt, sprinkle it over smoothie bowls, or snack on it straight from the jar. Create a nut free version with my Nut Free Granola recipe.

    Ingredients

Find below the list of ingredients I used to make my Blueberry Flax Granola.

Ingredients on a wooden cutting board, including dried blueberries, almonds, oats, protein powder, and honey.
    • Rolled Oats
    • Vanilla Protein Powder
    • Sliced Almond
    • Ground Flax Seeds
    • Cinnamon
    • Salt
    • Coconut Oil
    • Liquid Honey (or melted Creamed Honey)
    • Dried Blueberries

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Substitutions and Variations

    Substitutions

    • Rolled Oats (2 cups): Use quick oats for a finer texture or gluten-free oats if needed.
    • Milled Flax (¼ cup): Swap with chia seeds, ground hemp hearts, or wheat germ for a different nutrient boost.
    • Vanilla Protein Powder (½ cup): Replace with unflavored protein powder, collagen peptides, or skip entirely and add ¼ cup extra oats for balance.
    • Blanched Sliced Almonds (½ cup): Substitute with chopped walnuts, pecans, cashews, or pumpkin seeds for a nut-free option.
    • Cinnamon (2 tsp): Use pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice, or ground cardamom for a different flavor profile.
    • Salt (¼ tsp): Swap with sea salt flakes for a more pronounced flavor.
    • Liquid Honey (½ cup): Replace with maple syrup, agave syrup, or brown rice syrup for a vegan alternative.
    • Coconut Oil (⅓ cup): Substitute with melted butter, ghee, or a neutral oil like avocado or canola.
    • Dried Blueberries (¾ cup): Swap with dried cranberries, cherries, raisins, chopped dates, or even dark chocolate chips (added after baking).

    Variations

    • Nut Lover’s Granola: Add mixed nuts like pecans, hazelnuts, and cashews for extra crunch.
    • Tropical Twist: Use dried pineapple, mango, or banana chips with shredded coconut.
    • Berry Blast: Mix dried blueberries with dried strawberries and raspberries for a triple-berry version.
    • Chocolate Boost: Stir in cacao nibs or mini chocolate chips after baking and cooling.
    • Seedy Crunch: Add sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, or sesame seeds for extra texture and nutrition.
    • Spiced Granola: Add nutmeg, ginger, or cloves for a warmer, spicier flavor.

How to make Blueberry Flax Granola

    1. Transfer the granola mixture to the prepared baking pan. Spread it out as evenly as possible, taking the whole surface of the tray.
Someone using a spatula to flip over granola mid-way through the baking.
    1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Flip over the granola, and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove the Blueberry Flax Granola from the oven and sprinkle the dried blueberries on top. Let the granola cool completely and then store in an airtight container.

    How to Store the Granola

Store the Blueberry Flax Granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight to maintain its crunch. For longer storage, freeze the granola in a sealed freezer bag or container for up to 3 months; just let it come to room temperature before serving.
