Barbecue Turkey Lasagna

Find below the list of ingredients used in my Barbecue Turkey Lasagna.

  • Oven-ready Lasagna Noodles
  • Ground Turkey
  • Red Onion
  • Garlic
  • Frozen Corn
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Barbecue Sauce
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Roasted Garlic and Pepper Seasoning
  • Large Eggs
  • Grated Cheese

Prepare the Fillings

Start by preheating your oven to 375F.

  1. Place a large pan or skillet on medium-high heat. Cook the ground turkey full. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and corn to the turkey and cook until the onions are translucent. Turn off the heat.

  1. Pour 1 ½ cup of the marinara sauce and all of the barbecue sauce in the pan, with the cooked turkey and veggies. Sprinkle in the chopped fresh cilantro.

3. Stir the Barbecue Turkey mixture until well combined. Set aside.

4. Combine in a separate bowl, the cottage cheese, eggs, and roasted garlic seasoning. Stir until well combined and set aside.

Assemble the BBQ Turkey Lasagna

  1. Brush evenly,½ cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of the 9"x13" deep baking dish. Place oven-ready lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, covering the entire bottom surface of the dish.

  1. Carefully ladle half of the meat sauce on top of the noodles. Spread the sauce evenly. Place another layer of noodles on top of the sauce.

3. Pour all of the cottage cheese mixture on top of the noodles and spread evenly.

4. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top of the cottage cheese layer. Ladle the remainder of the meat sauce of top of the noodles.

5. Put the last layer of noodles on top of the meat sauce. Spoon the remaining ½ cup of the marinara evenly over the noodles.

6. Sprinkle the cheese evenly on top of the entire surface of the lasagna.

Bake the BBQ Turkey Lasagna

Cover the lasagna baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake the Barbecue Turkey Lasagna in the preheated 375F oven for 45 minutes. If the baking dish is very full, place a sheet pan in the oven on the rack underneath the lasagna, just in case it spills over.

Gently remove the foil from the lasagna and place it back into the oven for another 15 minutes to crisp it up. After that time you may even want to turn on the broiler and keep an eye on it until desired crispiness has been reached.

Remove the baked lasagna from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before cutting into it.

Substitutions

  • Cottage Cheese - Replace the cottage cheese with the same amount of ricotta.
  • Ground Turkey - Substitute the ground turkey with ground chicken, or beef.
  • Garlic Seasoning - Season the cottage cheese with your favorite spices.

Storing the Lasagna

Cool the Barbecue Turkey Lasagna to room temperature before storing. Cover tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil to keep it fresh. Refrigerate for up to 4 days, or place portions in airtight containers for easy reheating.

Freeze individual slices or the entire dish by wrapping in plastic wrap and foil for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator when ready to eat. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. Enjoy leftovers with the same rich, smoky flavor as the day it was baked!

  • 22 sheets Oven-Ready Lasagna Noodles
  • 3 cups Marble Cheddar Cheese grated

Meat Sauce

  • 2 pounds Ground Turkey
  • ½ large Red Onion diced
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • cup Frozen Corn
  • cup Marinara Sauce divided
  • cup Barbecue Sauce
  • ¼ cup Fresh Cilantro finely chopped

Cottage Cheese Mixture

  • 500 grams Cottage Cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Roasted Garlic Seasoning Blend

Instructions
 

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375F.

Make the Meat Sauce

Make the Cottage Cheese Mixture

  • Combine in a separate bowl, the cottage cheese, eggs, and roasted garlic seasoning. Stir until well combined and set aside.

  • Put the last layer of noodles on top of the meat sauce. Spoon the remaining ½ cup of the marinara evenly over the noodles.
  • Sprinkle the cheese evenly on top of the entire surface of the lasagna.
    3 cups Marble Cheddar Cheese

Bake the Lasagna
