    • Frozen Pineapple Pieces
    • Greek Yogurt

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Substitutions and Variations

    Fruit

    • Banana (frozen) → Mango, avocado (for creaminess), or pear (for sweetness).
    • Pineapple (frozen) → Mango, peaches, or oranges for a tropical flavor; apple for a milder option.

    Seeds & Boosters

    • Ground flax seeds → Chia seeds, hemp hearts, oats, or nut butter for creaminess and nutrition.

    Dairy & Liquids

    • Milk → Any plant-based milk (almond, oat, soy, coconut, cashew) or even coconut water for a lighter version.
    • Greek yogurt → Regular yogurt, kefir for extra probiotics, or a plant-based yogurt alternative.

    Greens

    • Swiss chard → Spinach (milder), kale (more earthy), or beet greens for variety.

    Flavor Add-Ins & Variations

    • Add fresh ginger for zing.
    • Blend in coconut flakes for a tropical twist.
    • Sweeten with honey, maple syrup, or dates if desired.
    • Sprinkle cinnamon or turmeric for extra warmth and health benefits.
    • Top with granola, sliced fruit, or seeds if serving as a smoothie bowl.

How to make a Swiss Chard Smoothie

Someone adding ground flax seed to a blender jar with fruit.
    1. Add all of the ingredients to the blender jar, ending with the chopped Swiss chard.

    1. Secure the lid on the blender jar and blend until smooth. If ingredients do not blend at first, scrape down the side, secure the lid and blend until smooth.

    Storage

Store the Swiss Chard Smoothie in an airtight jar or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours for the freshest taste and texture. Shake or stir well before drinking, as natural separation will occur. For longer storage, freeze the smoothie in single-serve portions (like ice cube trays or freezer-safe jars) for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge or blend the frozen cubes with a splash of liquid when ready to enjoy.
