    Ingredient Substitutions

    • Turkey Bacon: Substitute regular bacon, pancetta, or diced ham; use smoked mushrooms or tempeh for a vegetarian option.
    • Corn Kernels: Swap with frozen corn, fire-roasted corn, or canned corn (well drained).
    • Yellow Onion: Replace with white onion, sweet onion, shallots, or leeks for a milder flavor.
    • Garlic Cloves: Use garlic powder (½ teaspoon per clove) or roasted garlic for a sweeter note.
    • Bell Pepper: Substitute poblano pepper for gentle heat, red pepper for sweetness, or celery for crunch.
    • Smoked Paprika: Replace with regular paprika, chipotle powder for heat, or a pinch of liquid smoke.
    • Fresh Chives: Swap with green onions, parsley, or thyme.
    • Cream of Chicken Concentrate: Use cream of mushroom, cream of celery, or a homemade béchamel/cream sauce; choose dairy-free cream soup for DF.
    • Grated Cheese: Substitute cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, Gruyère, or a dairy-free shredded cheese.

    6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared 9-inch casserole. Top with the remaining ¼ cup of grated cheese and the reserved crispy bacon. Bake uncovered at 375F for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Remove from the oven, let it rest for 5 minutes and enjoy.

    Storage

Store the Turkey Bacon Creamed Corn casserole by allowing it to cool completely before covering or transferring it to an airtight container. Refrigerate the baked casserole for up to 3 days to maintain the best texture and flavor. Reheat individual portions in the microwave or warm the entire dish in a 350°F (175°C) oven until heated through, covering loosely to prevent drying. Freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months, then thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
